Quran TV : Iranian Quran and Mysticism Network: A Spiritual Journey

The Iranian Quran and Mysticism Network, commonly known as the Quran Network, stands as one of the state-run television channels in the Islamic Republic of Iran, operating within the framework of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). Noteworthy is the network's recent transition, as in 2020, it updated its logo and commenced broadcasting its programs in HD format using HEVC encoding, marking a significant technological advancement in its transmission methods.

Background and History: The Quran and Mysticism Network commenced its official operations on December 12, 2000, but its journey began earlier, with its initial programs airing in 1999. Its inaugural broadcast, titled "Sima-ye Quran," was a one-hour program airing shortly after the 22:30 news on Channel 2. The show was produced by Ali Akrami. After a year, the timing shifted to post-midday, following the noon prayer, and continued for two years under the name "Sima-ye Noor" (Vision of Light). Subsequently, until the network's nationwide launch, Quran Network programs were broadcast from 1:00 to 6:00 AM through Channel 5 and provincial centers and from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM through Channel 4.

In the holy month of Ramadan in 2005, coinciding with the international Quranic competitions, the official independent 24-hour broadcasting of Quran Network programs commenced.

The first series produced by the network was the television show "Shahr-e Baran" (City of Rain), created by Majid Abbasi and directed by Seyed Javad Hashemi, which premiered in 2003.

On the 5th of Aban 1399 (October 26, 2020), the Quran and Mysticism Network underwent a significant visual transformation by introducing a new logo after 21 years.

Programs and Objectives: The primary focus of the Quran Network is to promote and educate on Sunni Islam, addressing religious, political, and social subjects, with a particular emphasis on Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. The network offers a diverse array of approximately 27 live and recorded programs, accessible 24 hours a day. In recent years, the network has also featured Persian-dubbed versions of television series such as "Omar," "Muawiyah," "Hasan and Husayn," and "Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi."

Viewership: While the majority of the network's audience resides in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, the global outreach extends to Europe and the Middle East through satellite broadcasts and worldwide via online live streaming.

In conclusion, the Iranian Quran and Mysticism Network stands as a significant platform in the media landscape, contributing to the cultural and religious enrichment of its viewership with a diverse range of programs that reflect the rich Islamic heritage. The network continues to evolve, adapting to technological advancements and societal needs, ensuring its enduring role in the broadcasting landscape.
